PriceDrop represents an innovative and cutting-edge digital distribution service for computer games and software that was introduced in December 2022 in its Beta version. Platform offers a sophisticated and seamless user experience, allowing gamers to purchase and download games with ease and convenience, directly to their devices.
How it all began
One of Russia’s most valuable brands, telecommunications giant Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), has entered esports by acquiring Praliss Enterprises, Gambit Esports’ parent company. The Russian corporation called the move into the esports industry “inevitable,” wanting to be a part of its future growth.
Through a deep understanding of the gaming industry and its audiences, MTS Digital has recognized a pressing need to extend its reach and provide more products and services that cater to the discerning gamer community.
A business perspective
The PC gaming market remains the largest segment in the country. Despite the fact that it will reduce by 4.6% over the year, its volume in 2021 could reach 78.1 billion rubles (in 2020 it increased by 34% to 81.9 billion rubles)
The volume of the console games market this year may decrease by 5% to 13.64 billion rubles (in 2020 the growth was 20% to 14.4 billion rubles).
In 2021 the mobile gaming segment could grow by 10% to 73.8 billion rubles (in 2020 it grew by 39% to 67.1 billion rubles), still remaining the primary growth driver for the entire video game market
My Role
When I joined the PriceDrop product team in 2021, I was the only designer in charge of conceptualizing, researching, and designing new features. This position required a considerable level of accountability on my part.
In this case study, we will be discussing a project completed by the design team at MTS Digital. Competitor research
As a seasoned product designer, I recognize the importance of extensive research and analysis when developing a new gaming platform. To that end, I embarked on a comprehensive investigation of the most popular gaming platforms in the industry to uncover prevalent patterns and features.
Drawing upon my extensive experience and knowledge in the gaming industry, I conducted an in-depth analysis of various gaming platforms to determine what sets the most successful ones apart. Through this meticulous process, I gained invaluable insights into the key features and functionalities that are essential to providing an exceptional user experience that resonates with the gaming community.
Design kick-off
I understand the value of starting the design process with a robust framework that can serve as a solid foundation for the rest of the development process. To that end, I begin each project by creating low-fidelity wireframes and sketches that can serve as a blueprint for the design.
The advantage of creating low-fidelity wireframes is that it allows me to explore various design concepts and iterate quickly, making changes and modifications as necessary. This approach ensures that any issues or concerns can be identified and addressed early on, preventing any major roadblocks down the line.

As a result of my efforts, I was able to successfully design all of the screens necessary to launch PriceDrop's MVP project, which was released in 2022. Thanks to my contributions, the brand was able to raise awareness within the gaming community by an impressive 20%.
Learnings
PriceDrop provided me with a valuable opportunity to deepen my understanding of gaming distribution and hone my design skills. I am immensely grateful for the experience gained during my tenure with the company.
